Are there any New York State non-sexual dating laws?
So… there is a girl that I like, she likes me too, I will be 18 in December and she will be 16 in May.
My [extremely conservative] parents believe that I am not legally allowed to date her, even if there is no sex involved whatsoever. I do not plan on anything sexual happening in our relationship, in face I plan against it. She and I are both Christian and plan on waiting.
I do not believe that there are any laws saying that an 18 year old may not date a minor, in an exclusively abstinent manner, are there?
We both live in New York.
Any ideas, thoughts, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Kindly don’t diss my parents though, I know they’re being jerks. Thanks.
they might not be as opposed if you offer to have the dates chaperoned, either by them, or someone in her family, or maybe a church member. Or possibly if you stick with group dates.
