Salam alaikum brother. Of course hatred is a waste of time. Unfortunately people have focused on spreading their hate instead of searching for the reasons why they hate. And usually it is ignorance. And while certain people are reading this answer they are thinking, whatever terrorist, if you don’t like it move. So you can’t pay attention to the hatred out there as heartbreaking and dissapointing as it is. Ignorance breeds fear, and fear breads hatred. If somebody has a problem with you being Muslim or dating outside of your race, then maybe they should do some real, un-biased research on the matter, and before they judge you on how THEY think you should be better, judge themselves and ask if theres any improvements they can make first.
