How would you define a date?
I see many online personals saying things like “I want for us to talk, meet and get to know each other. If things seem to be working out, then we can date”. OK, so my possibly stupid question is: what is a date if it’s not meeting and getting to know the other person? If I go out with… er, I mean if I “meet”, someone and we’re technically not dating, am I supposed to do things differently? Ask different kinds of questions? I assume flowers are out? Is the usual “guy pays” thing not ok since we’re not dating? Is a hug ok when parting, or not? I’m really not trying to make fun of that kind of personal ad; I just don’t see a clear distinction (besides, of course, things like kissing).
What is your definition of a date?
A date is the actually event itself to get to know someone – ie going to the movies or out to dinner, etc in a one-on-one capacity.
Dating or “then we can date” it to be in an relationship with one another – a commitment has been made to be exclusive
