Asalaam Alaikum. I’m an Eastern Orthodox/Catholic christian, i’m 15 and i also attend services at a mosque once a month. Anyway, at school i have a friend, she’s a tall skinny beautiful Iranian girl. She really nice, laughs at all my jokes, smiles at me often with her green eyes and we study together with friends. I think i love her but i’m afraid to tell her. I want to ask her parents if i can date her but kinda scared to. What should i do, i know that this is haram-but love’s not haram What do i do?

Dating is forbidden in Islam, and asking a Muslim father if you can date his daughter will be a for sure no. Eastern Orthodox is very much like Islam in many ways, prove to him that you are a good Muslim (worshipper of God). Ask for hand with the intention of getting to know her, and if he says yes…you can go from there and decide if marriage is the next option.

Other than that, if he says know, you can still get to know her by not overstepping your boundaries. Most Muslim Scholars say you can get to know each other as long as there are no words that might lead to temptation or sinful acts.

I was in the same position, I was catholic and my wife is Shia Muslim. I knew I wanted to convert to Islam, but on my own terms. THings happened and I ended up converting the day i married her. I personally believe it was a sign from God for waiting so long to accept Islam. But you are too young to make any drastic decisions.

What I will tell you is this: If someday you love her THAT much…you will feel more than willing to convert…thats just what love does. And because you are eastern orthodox, it will be fairly easy for you to covert to the new customs
