As a Christian, you can merge your finances while dating?
My boyfriend and I have been dating for 2 1 / 2 years. We are determined to marry however, it is important to us and we both have the early grades. I will graduate this June, and has two years left. That said, a commitment comes in the next year and a half. We already have a joint account that pays together 4 different accounts (order of payment of the mine, cell phones, two insurance cars, therefore, couples counseling, both). Both contribute money to the account every paycheck. They have also maintained our personal accounts, where the rest of each of our checks go. Works great. However, never tell anyone already doing this for fear of what the "Christian community" could say. Is it appropriate to combine well before marriage? We are not living together.
Combination away. Forget the Christian community. Freedom from grace of Christ. We are not living together for what is already doing 94% better than the rest of the Christian community. I'm assuming you are not having sex either, right? Cuz … uh … who cares about the checkbook only one thing that God really tells us is to be kept sacred for marriage.
